MCDOT Completes Intersection Improvement Project to Reduce Traffic Congestion on Sam Eig Highway

In August, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) opened a third northeast-bound lane between Great Seneca Highway (Maryland Route 119) and Diamondback Drive to reduce traffic congestion for vehicles entering Sam Eig Highway. This project is part of MCDOT’s ongoing intersection improvement program that targets congestion relief and improves safety by enhancing traffic flow through areas that experience backups.

The improvement concept was developed by MCDOT's Division of Traffic Engineering and Operations and designed and constructed by the Division of Transportation Engineering.
