In August, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) opened a third northeast-bound lane between Great Seneca Highway (Maryland Route 119) and Diamondback Drive to reduce traffic congestion for vehicles entering Sam Eig Highway. This project is part of MCDOT’s ongoing intersection improvement program that targets congestion relief and improves safety by enhancing traffic flow through areas that experience backups.
