The Metropolitan WashingtonCouncil of Governments announced that the Transportation Planning Board (TPB)
approved $2.7 million in funding for a number of projects that will enhance transportation
for seniors and individuals with disabilities, including several projects in
Montgomery County.
Of the nine projects recommended
for funding, those that will benefit County residents are:

Jewish Council for the Aging project to strengthen the “Connect-a-Ride”
transportation information program with an improved database and a bi-lingual
mobility specialist.

Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services effort to increase
coordination between the transportation and human service agencies within the
County, provide outreach and marketing about existing transportation services
and increase volunteer driver recruitment.

A
Maryland Transit Administration project that will use a block grant for vehicle
purchase for suburban Maryland non-profits. Read more
