Montgomery County Graduates 30 ‘Vision Zero Youth Ambassadors’

MCDOT held the Vision Zero Youth Ambassadors Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, May 17. Speakers included MCDOT Director Chris Conklin, Montgomery County Police Department Central Traffic Unit, Officer Brandon Shelton, and Vision Zero Coordinator Wade Holland.

Ambassadors received certificates and had the opportunity to earn up to 46 Student Service Learning hours for active participation. This year, the ambassadors earned 1,247 hours.

Youth Ambassadors were tasked with planning and executing Safety Day, a free, family-friendly event with music, food and activities such as moon bounces, bike obstacle courses and safety demonstrations focused on pedestrian, bike, and traffic safety. The event is hosted on Rockville Pike and annually attracts thousands to participate.
